business主指商业、生意方面，如business weekly 每周商刊。

在表示事务时有职责的意思，如It’s not your business 不管你的事。affair指事件。与event相近。指已经发生或必须去做的任何事情，复数可表示重大的事务，如a public affair公事、affairs of state国务。matter指事情。是普通用语，常指我们所写到或谈到的、必须考虑或处理的事。如：I decided to treat the whole matter as a great joke！我决定把整件事当做一个玩笑。最常用的就是What‘s matter with you ？你怎么了？##这三个词有时可通用，但不能任意替换。如：Mind your own business.少管闲事。这里的business 可用affairs 替换，但不能用 matters。
