at the weekend和on the weekend有什么区别

at the weekend 强调的是一个具体的时间,在具体的时间点前用at,是它的一般用法.如：

I don't work at the weekend.

但如果强调的是一个特定的周末,就不能用at而要改为on.

如：Jack was killed on the weekend of May Ist,1987.

这个原则也适用于其它的时间介词.如：

如果是某个特定周末，用定冠词+单数theweekend，否则不用定冠词但必须是复数weekends。atweekends/attheweekend是英式英语，onweekends/ontheweekend是美式英语(我的第一反应，atweekends/attheweekend是错的)。另外，据说inweekends/intheweekend是新西兰英语。

overtheweekend和duringtheweekend也是正确的说法。
