probably和may的用法区别

词性不同：

probably是副词，在句子中表示行为或状态特征。

may是情态动词，用在行为动词前，表示说话人对这一动作或状态的看法或主观设想。

语气不同：

probably意为“或许，大概”，强调合情合理有依据，有根据，常有可能性很大的意思。语气较强。

如There's probably some kind of animals on some other worlds, but we do not know yet.很可能在其他的世界存在着另类的动物，只是我们尚不知道。

may表示"可能有，可能在"，是一种口头猜测，语气较轻。

如This addition may interfere with the symmetry of the building.增建部分可能会有损这座建筑物的对称。

用法不同：

probably常用more,most,修饰，不能用very修饰。

He is the most probably boy to earn the champion.

他是最有可能夺冠的男孩。

may一般与be连用， 是情态动词+系动词be的结构。表示"可能有，可能在",否定式为 may not be。

如He may be over forty years old.他可能有四十多岁了。
