雅思口试:考试时如何应对不会的问题?
雅思口试本来就是许多考生最害怕的部分,无论背了多少机经也难免紧张。如果再遇到根本不会的问题,可能就更慌了。这篇文章就和大家分享了这种“极端情况”。
Educators should make the students understand that the topics of IELTS oral English are carefully chosen to reflect common and ordinary experiences, so students do not need special knowledge to talk about them. We should encourage students and make them realize that it is extremely unlikely for them to be unable to talk about the topic given. Educators should also make them understand that the examiner would only like to know their opinion or feeling and does not expect them to be professional about it.
One difficulty student may face is that they may not understand the examiner’s question completely thus can make it difficult for them to answer. It is necessary for us to cultivate the student’s ability in listening first before expecting them to improve their ability to speak. If the students can not understand the question it will be impossible for them to give precise and relevant answers.
During the training in LonGRE Center, we should instruct the students that if they can not understand the question during the exam, he/she should tell the examiner. But it should be done in a correct and respectful manner. We can train them to use these sentences: “ I’m sorry, I did not get you.” Or “Can you please repeat the question again. “Instructor should make clear to the students that the communication between the student and the examiner should not stop and be sure to maintain the smooth flow of the communication between them.
In Part 1 the examiner will be able to repeat the question. In part II the candidate should look carefully at the task card because the prompts may help them guess the meaning of a word they have not understood. In Part III the examiner will be able to reformulate the question, or may be able to offer further clarification, depending on the particular difficulty. And one excellent way to teach students is to make a guess and ask the examiner if their guess is correct or not before answering.
However, we educators should strongly suggest the students to prepare and seek for professional help before taking the test. With proper training and knowledge about the test, they will not have any difficulty in answering the questions in the exam.
