今天说说有关Gun的一个短语表达方法！

赛跑比赛的时候一贯都是以朝天开枪作为开始跑的信号。

To jump the gun。To jump就是“跳高”或“跳跃”的“跳”。要是一个参加赛跑的运动员在枪还没有响就开始跑，那他就是jump the gun。要是发生在规模比较大的运动会上，这个运动员还可能会被取消比赛资格。
To jump the gun is to do something too soon. For instance, if a runner starts running before the race starts, he's jumping the gun.

但是，to jump the gun作为俗语已经超越了体育的界限。它可以使用在生活的各个方面，它的意思就是：过早地开始一个行动，或者是过于匆忙地做某件事。

例子：

once I brought a boyfriend home to meet my parents. My mom really jumped the gun and assumed that we were going to get married.
一旦，我带男友回家，我妈妈就提早断定我们要结婚了！

Don't jump the gun because they usually start distributing paychecks on the 15th.
不要太早去，因为他们通常十五号才开始发薪水。

如果你用"Don't go too early."来代替这个"Don't jump the gun."就没有那么酷咯！

Jump the gun还常用来指一個人在不知道什么的情況下乱发脾气，get mad at someone too early，也是有 too early 的意思在里面。

例如，有些时候老板会不分青红皂白的一把你叫进办公室就开始训话了，还不知是你的错还是别人的错，这时你可以小声的说：

Hey! Don't jump the gun. What's up?
喂，不要太早生气，到底发生了什么事？
